LOL! Not bad considering three of my answers were guesses, as I wasn't familiar with the fandoms involved.
Your result for The Fanfic Vocabulary Test... You scored 100 geekiness! If you scored:
Less than 50% - Go to fanfiction.net and catch up on your reading! 50 to 75% - Not bad, not bad...you know your way around the fanfic world! Greater than 75% - Haven't I seen you at MediaWest? Take The Fanfic Vocabulary Test at OkCupid

Your result for The Fan Fiction Personality Test... The True FanOOC is blasphemy, canon is everything. Once you fall in love with a movie, book or TV series, you are loyal like an old dog. You take fanfiction quite seriously and use it as a substitute after the canon ran out. You are probably a walking dictionary of your favourite fandom and you are picky about what you write and read. The closer to the "real thing" fanfiction is, the more you like it. You'd rather explore a character in all depth, see new sides and learn more about them than creating new characters or mix up the situations they are in. Pretty darn close! I do *occasionally* like to create AUs or OCs-- but I do like them rooted in canon. (And what does it say about me that I corrected the grammar mistakes in the test results? *grin*)

I watched Heroes last night after having not seen anything this season. Still sucks. I have one thing to say:
Sylar's tat was not Claire; it was Mohinder in drag. Silly man. I thought they had given up trying to pretend he was straight by now.
Oh wait, i have two things to say:
MMMMMMMMMMMM, Ray Parks. Oh Maulie, you're so fine. You're so fine you blow my mind. Hey Maulie.
Hamster Death Gulps are on me!

There's been a lot I've wanted to post about but I barely had a chance to catch my breath this weekend!
Saturday, we took a drive up to Grove, OK, to where we purchased a campground membership; the DH was to meet someone there to pick up a piece of art he had bought, and we wanted to look the area over. We ended up exploring some of the several antique/flea market type shops. I ended up buying 11 books-- really good craft and cookbooks-- for only $15.61! We also picked up some collectible Hot Wheels as a surprise for our son, and a couple of other more useful items. We didn't get home until late Sat. night.
Sunday was the first Sunday-of-the-month potluck, and I made two dishes from this year's Braum's recipe pamphlet: Bacon Garlic Bread and Mom's Cheesy Veggie Casserole, except in the latter, I substituted mozzarella for the cheddar cheese, and left off the french fried onions. I'm in charge of the potlucks, so I didn't get home till after 1. Just had time to change clothes and relax a bit, and then when our son got home from work at 2:30, we all three went into Stillwater. We had a couple of errands to run, then we went to supper at a local steakhouse buffet. After that we went to see "Avatar". (cut for spoilers)

Actually a very long and lovely fic for me!
"Anonymous" (at least until Thursday) has written me a beautiful pre-Quest fic, in TWO PARTS because it would not all fit on one post!
To Absent Friends, part 1
To Absent Friends, part 2
It's a lovely story about Frodo's first time to return to Buckland for Yule after becoming Master of Bag End. We get to see him making arrangements for the Hobbits of the Hill, before he leaves, and a delightful time is had by all-- both at Brandy Hall and at Bag End!
If you are looking for a long and delightful way to pass the time with hobbits-- this most certainly is one!

Hey, Christmas is over. That's exciting. Less complete meltdowns to worry about. I don't know, it only took me like a week and a half to write off the entirety of December as a loss.
I have all these ambitious ideas for end-of-decade posting? But I feel like actually showing up is ambitious enough at this point. Maybe during January, if I have enough time? It'll be a legit retrospective then. I mean, did you ever wonder why everyone always rushes to get their year-end listing done *before* the year's end? I know it's probably a marketing thing, and we're all conditioned to it now, but part of me likes the idea of bookending something by not talking about it until *after* it's over.
Wow, look at all those words about nothing. HI, PARAGRAPHS. I'VE MISSED YOU.
How were your holidays?
EtA: ALSO YOU GUYS I just realized I never told you how I was totally NOT flirting with Michael Del Zotto:
( honestly, I got confirmation on that )

Boo hoo! I'm so disappointed with myself. See, I planned to order a chocolate cheesecake for New Year's Eve but I kept postponing. Just now I went to the website and they didn't accept any more order!! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! *wipes tears angrily*
So now - *takes a deep breath* - I need my Jensen to cheer me up. :(
( Want to cheer me or you up, too? )

For a shield from the storm, For a friend, for a love to keep me safe and warm I turn to you

I've had a bit of a cold today, so we skipped church. I've been resting and reading one of my new Christmas gifts:
The History of the Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, Part One: Mr. Baggins, John D. Rateliff, ed.
Kind of like HoMe, only for The Hobbit! HotH?
Did you know: Gandalf was once named "Bladorthin"! Thorin was once named "Gandalf"!! Smaug was once named "Pryftan"!!!

Whew! Finally a chance to sit down and recap my holiday!
First of all: the lovely yuletide story I received! It's in the C.S. Lewis fandom, set in the last book of his Space trilogy, That Hideous Strength. It gives the backstory for Dr. Grace Ironwood, one of the inhabitants of the Fisher-King's household. The story is Still In My Pilgrimage, and while filling in Grace's tale, it also gives us a bit about some of the other people there, such as the Dimbles and Ivy Brown. It's a very introspective character study. If you have ever read THS it will resonate for you, but even if you are not familiar with the canon, there is a lot to admire in this lovely piece.
And my Christmas! The DH and I got a gift for the both of us-- a new scanner, printer, copier. It's one of the new Kodak ones, that uses less expensive ink.
He also gave me a very awesome gadget, if I can only get it to work-- there were no directions for it! But it is a Monteverde Invincia 4 GB USB Flash Drive Ballpoint Pen. I'm supposed to be able to write with it, and then upload what I write onto my computer…the jury is out as to whether I will be able to get it to work.
In addition, I got some other great things: the complete audio book set of LotR! 52 discs! and the boxed set of The History of The Hobbit and a copy of Letters From Father Christmas by JRRT. The latter is utterly charming! I think it is going to be a good deal of fun from what I can tell so far!
My son gave me Susan Boyle's new CD, I Dreamed a Dream. My word, she can *sing*!
Our day was very busy. We had our traditional brunch of steak and waffles, and then, contrary to our usual tradition, we cleaned house! The day before, our pastor came into the store to pick up a few groceries, and we talked. I found out that his wife had to go into the hospital again and his kids were with their grandparents, and he was alone on Christmas! So I impulsively invited him to join us for Christmas dinner! He came and we had a very nice dinner (ham and other traditional fixings) and a good visit with him. (If you should happen to think of it, send up a little prayer for his family. His wife has chronic health problems, and they just seem to get worse and worse, and they have two young kids.)
I haven't had a chance to peruse the other Yuletide fics yet, but I know my recipient liked the one I wrote, at least.
Well, now I'm going to try and see if I can get into AO3 and check out some of the other Yuletide stories!
I hope everyone on my flist had a lovely holiday! ((((((((((((((hugs to you all)))))))))))))))))

It's been my dream to have a SPN vid made with the song You Needed Me by Anne Murray. Well, now that I can make vids, I tried to make one. I don't know if it's as good as what I want. I wasn't really satisfied with it myself. Still, I shed tears making and watching it. :)
Well, I just hope you like it.
( Lyrics )
ETA: Just want to add this fic written by layne67 and yours truly some time ago. :) You Needed Me.
